2020 has become THE PERFECT STORM. I come to a lake in the Northern California mountains for five months each year. This is our 25th year. When things are going well, weather-wise, it is truly paradise. In the last 15 years, however, the weather patterns have changed. We always have had forest fires in the mountains, and every few years one would be close enough to us that we would experience residual smoke. Rarely did one threaten us. That has changed. Now, the fires, usually started by natural causes such as lightning strikes, are occurring with a frequency never known before. This year, 2020, the fires number in the thousands. Property loss, human casualties, economic and firefighting resources are in dire straits. Daytime has turned into nighttime due to the smoke and even when indoors the air quality is poor.
At the same time, in the Eastern and Central United States the hurricane season began with two at a time. The pattern is similiar for hurricanes. T he veracity of the storms are higher categories, the season longer, the damage broader than ever before.
These are all consequences of what scientists predicted would happen with GLOBAL WARMING. The reality is here, as is the evidence. I feel if there is just ONE REASON to change administrations THIS ELECTION, it is to get back to scientific programs to TRY keep our one and only home, THE EARTH, safe for future generations. WE CAN’T WAIT!
