Three Great Books You Shouldn’t Miss

Historical Fiction, #13 on My Book List, 5 Star Pachinko follows one Korean family through four generations, from 1910-1989, as they were exiled to Japan. Through their desperate struggles, and the influence the parlor game of Pachinko played in their lives lies a rich culture. Now a series, streaming on Apple TV+.
If you enjoy the Mystery-Thriller venue you should try The Silent Patient, #14 on my Book List with a 5 Star rating. This psychological thriller opens with these words: “Alicia Berenson was thirty-three years old when she killed her husband”. As news of the killing spreads across London, the act of shooting her husband five times in the face catches the imagination of the public. Adding fuel to the fire is that Alicia, a famous painter, becomes even more mysterious as she refuses to talk. A criminal psychotherapist is called in to try to unravel the mystery and becomes obsessed in the process. Fast-paced!
# 15 on my Book List, with a 5 Star rating, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, although heart wrenching as it depicts life within the Auschwitz concentration camp, is hopeful. This is a vivid portrayal of the dynamics within the camp including a love story, which is testament to the love, humanity and endurance even under the darkest of conditions during World War II. One of my favorite books to date.
